ds-COR is an extremely strong cleaning and degreasing agent suitable for use on both ordinary steel and cold-rolled Corten steel. Using this product is highly recommended, as it prepares the Corten steel surface for even and homogeneous oxidation. Although the surface of cold-rolled steel may seem clean enough, in reality the grease on its surface is often contaminated with dirt, which in turn can prevent the activator (act-COR) from penetrating and forming a nice, even patina layer.
ds-COR is a water-based, non-flammable and odourless alkali. The most convenient way is to spray the liquid directly onto the steel sheet surface. The surface does not need to be pre-cleaned with other agents. Please note that the product DOES NOT NEED to be shaken before use, as this creates foam that can leave stains on the surface. And after using the oxidation activator, there is a chance that they remain visible.
Very important: after cleaning the steel with ds-COR, the remaining liquid must be completely removed. If this is not done, splashes may appear that do not oxidise, because ds-COR reacts on contact with the oxidation activator (act-COR).
